Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A circulating unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the first lady's gender.
Their complaint contends that Owens disregarded any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
