The winter recruitment period is typically a period of intense rumour and possible big-money moves. A number of high-profile players are being connected to moves away from their present clubs. We examine a selection of the major names who are poised to be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to reach the AFCON, which has left the player in contention, reports suggest a significant transfer is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a sizeable release clause active for a brief window in early January. Latest reports point to Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his services. Former suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to alternative targets, potentially opening the door for teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has excel for Crystal Palace this season a previous move to Liverpool collapsing. With his deal due to run out in the close season, January is the club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous elite sides, including Manchester City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. Brennan Johnson

It is understood the London club is willing to consider a sale for the right price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally credited with an interest.

Rúben Neves

The Portuguese midfielder could be set for a comeback to the Premier League following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Now only twenty-eight, while his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential opportunity. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the player. Furthermore, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barcelona following new manager Flick. Having lost his place and undergone an operation, a January exit looks increasingly probable. Villa were once mentioned as a possible destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This prolific English striker has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could enhance his fading chances of being in the national World Cup. The highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. Following impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. This teenager is widely tipped to complete a major move this month. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but could face stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
